Communications Program Director, Research
Joanne Fahey joined Notre Dame Research in June 2014 as its first communications program director. In this role, she is responsible for developing and implementing communications plans and strategies that support the University in enhancing its reputation as a preeminent research institution. She also serves the Office of the Provost on special communications projects.
Originally from Flossmoor, Ill., Fahey is a 2003 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, with a bachelor’s degree in political science and peace studies. She also holds a master’s of science in environmental science from Trinity College Dublin.
Before returning to her alma mater, Fahey spent more than 10 years in Ireland, where she worked as the communications manager at the Fulbright Commission of Ireland. Here she implemented a redevelopment and enhancement of its web and social media presence, as well as nurtured strategic relationships with the media and leaders in Irish academia. Previously, Fahey also served as a senior communications consultant with RPS Group, one of Ireland’s largest environmental and engineering consulting firms, delivering strategic stakeholder communications on major infrastructure developments, such as public transportation and power lines.
