Keating-Crawford Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering,
Director of the Center for Sustainable Energy at Notre Dame
Notre Dame is committed to advancing its capacity to conduct cutting-edge research. This support is exemplified by the University’s Strategic Research Investments (SRI).
I direct the Sustainable Energy Initiative, an SRI that has helped lay the foundation for the Center for Sustainable Energy at Notre Dame (cSEND). With this investment, we are seeding new, innovative, collaborative projects to address key problems in the development of cleaner fossil, safer nuclear, and transformative solar energy technologies.
The University’s strength in research pervades all levels of scholarship. In fact, one of the things I like most about Notre Dame is the way I am able to involve our high-quality undergraduates in my research group. There is nothing better than when colleagues at other universities tell me how well one of my former students is doing now in graduate school.
It probably goes without saying, then, that Notre Dame is also a place where both the students themselves and the University leadership value faculty in our roles as teachers.
