Office of the Provost

The Provost at the University of Notre Dame has responsibility, under the President, for the administration, coordination and development of all of the academic activities and functions of the University.

The office has existed since 1970 and has been occupied by four persons: Rev. James Burtchaell, C.S.C., 1970-1977; Dr. Timothy O'Meara, 1978-1996, Dr. Nathan Hatch, 1996-2005; and currently, Dr. Thomas Burish.

In the immediate office, the Provost is assisted by Vice President and Senior Associate Provost Christine Maziar, Vice President and Associate Provost Dennis Jacobs, Vice President and Associate Provost Don Pope-Davis, and an Executive Assistant, Brandon Roach. Also assisting the Provost is Associate Provost, Gordon Wishon, Office of Information Technologies; and three Assistant Provosts including Gilberto Cardenas, Institute for Latino Studies, Julia Douthwaite, International Studies, and Daniel Saracino, Office of Admissions.
