Faculty Search and Hiring

New faculty gathering on the football field, fall 2023

Notre Dame’s Catholic mission calls us to respect the dignity of every person; build a University community in which all can flourish; and live in solidarity with all, particularly the most vulnerable. At Notre Dame, the entire faculty, regardless of background, beliefs, race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or any other identifying attributes, contributes to the University’s mission.

To realize our goal to be the leading global Catholic research university, we actively seek to hire Catholic faculty, faculty from underrepresented communities, and all those who value our distinctive mission. Our aim is to build a Notre Dame faculty that is diverse and inclusive.

To support academic units in the recruitment, search, and hiring of excellent faculty candidates, the Office of the Provost coordinates with deans to steward strategic hiring plans and shares guidance with all those involved in this enterprise.

Workshops for Search Committee Members

Faculty members who will serve on search committees in Academic Year 2024-2025 are invited to attend a “Hiring for Inclusive Excellence” workshop led by Keona L. Lewis, Ph.D., Assistant Provost for Academic Diversity and Inclusion. This session will address implicit bias, and offer strategies, tools, and best practices for faculty search and hiring.
