With a Side of Knowledge is a new podcast produced by the Office of the Provost at the University of Notre Dame. It features informal interviews with fascinating scholars and professionals from both Notre Dame and elsewhere that take place over brunch.

The show’s fourth episode, “On Real News and Purple Rain,” was released Thursday, July 12, and features Richard Jones, Annenberg Director of Notre Dame’s Gallivan Program in Journalism, Ethics, and Democracy, and Victoria St. Martin, a multimedia journalist at PBS station WNIT, which serves the region around the Notre Dame campus.

During their conversation with host Ted Fox, Jones and St. Martin—previously of The New York Times and The Washington Post, respectively—talked about, among other things, the challenges of being a journalist in 2018, fake news, and Prince.
