Entrepreneur magazine lists Notre Dame MBA among top "green" b-schools

The University of Notre Dame MBA offers one of the best programs in the country for MBA students seeking careers in “green” industries, according to Entrepreneur magazine.

“A Sustainable Degree,” published in its April issue available on newsstands March 22, features Notre Dame in a list of 16 b-schools selected based on a survey of administrators at 325 graduate schools of business in 2009-2010 and of students attending the schools. The list also is available online.

Entrepreneur partnered with education services company The Princeton Review to produce the listing. Administrators were surveyed on their school’s academics, curricula, campus policies and student services related to sustainability, social responsibility and the environment. Students were polled on how well they felt their MBA programs were educating them for careers in “Green Business” fields.

The Notre Dame MBA offered by the Mendoza College of Business was noted for its sustainability courses focused on topics such as “greening” the supply chain and improving environmental accounting. The College also features lecture series, including Ten Years Hence, that bring speakers to campus to discuss how environmental concerns can be better incorporated into business practices.

Under “bragging rights,” the article lists the win by a team of Mendoza students of the 2010 Leeds Net Impact Case Competition for its design of conservation solutions for Minneapolis utility Xcel Energy.

The Princeton Review chose the schools based on criteria that covered four key areas: the amount of research the school conducts related to sustainability, the availability of courses in sustainability, the percent of faculty teaching such courses, and the school’s career services for students interested in green business/social responsibility employment.
