Maria Di Pasquale serves as the senior advisor to the provost. Among other responsibilities, she supports the provost in the development and implementation of strategic projects, coordinates academic leadership teams (e.g., the Deans' Council and Provost’s Cabinet), guides communications in collaboration with officers and other campus leadership, and coordinates the operations of the Office of the Provost.

Prior to joining the Provost’s Office, Di Pasquale was associate director of the Notre Dame Institute for Advanced Study (NDIAS). In this capacity, she had oversight for the Institute’s budget and financial planning, provided strategic research and fellowship support, and supervised NDIAS staff. She previously held the role of academic advancement director in the College of Arts and Letters, where she promoted the college’s funding priorities with fundraisers and benefactors and served as the liaison between the college and Development.

Di Pasquale graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame with bachelor’s degrees in art history and English. She also earned a master’s degree in art history from Williams College and a doctoral degree in art history from the University of Texas at Austin. Before working at Notre Dame, she taught at the University of Texas at Austin, The George Washington University, and the University of California at Los Angeles Extension Program, where she was named Outstanding Instructor of the Year. Di Pasquale also applied her expertise as an art historian as an education associate at Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, Calif., and as the founder of Illuminating Art Experiences, an art historical lecture and touring service, offering mobile seminars in the museums of greater Los Angeles and guided art historical travel around the country.
