Natalie Sargent is the inaugural director of faculty recognition. She leads partnerships between the Office of the Provost and Notre Dame Research, deans, department chairs, faculty, and other colleagues to strengthen Notre Dame’s culture of academic excellence through advancing faculty recognition across the disciplines. Her responsibilities include cultivating a strategic pipeline of outstanding faculty for national and international engagement and recognition; optimizing internal award and recognition opportunities in alignment with the University’s Strategic Framework; and designing meaningful commemorations of faculty achievements and contributions.

Prior to the establishment of this role, from 2019 to 2023, Natalie served as the academic advancement director for the Mendoza College of Business. She oversaw the establishment of a robust partnership model of philanthropy with senior leaders, fundraisers, and benefactors, resulting in unprecedented success for the College in major and annual giving alongside process and donor experience improvements. She also teaches in the Master’s of Nonprofit Administration (MNA) Program.

Her prior positions have included consulting roles in the Graduate School’s Office of Grants and Fellowships and the College of Arts & Letters’ Institute for Scholarship in the Liberal Arts (ISLA). Natalie earned her bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Smith College; and master’s and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Notre Dame.
