Ron Metoyer

Professor of Computer Science and Engineering,
Vice President and Associate Provost for Teaching and Learning

Professor Metoyer conducts research in human-computer interaction. He employs human-centered methods to design, build, and study computer technology that helps people flourish at work and in their daily lives.

His current research applies computational approaches to simplify complex food nutritional content and ultimately help people make healthy food choices.

Professor Metoyer has been a leader in numerous initiatives to increase the participation of underrepresented groups in the computing fields, including efforts funded by the National Science Foundation.

"The design of computing technology cannot take place in a vacuum, but rather requires deep engagement with potential users of that technology. This is particularly important when designing for and with marginalized communities. What better place is there than Notre Dame to work in the margins with incredible colleagues and amazing students."
