Tracy Kijewski-Correa

Professor of Civil Engineering and Global Affairs,
Director of the Pulte Institute for Global Development

In addition to her work as Director of the Pulte Institute for Global Development, Professor Kijewski-Correa serves as the inaugural director of the National Science Foundation’s Structural Extreme Event Reconnaissance Network — a global team of engineers who use data science to rapidly assess the impact of major disasters.

Professor Kijewski-Correa uses interdisciplinary approaches to address the challenges facing communities living in poverty and vulnerability.

By working directly with those affected by disasters, her research builds household resilience and promotes sustainable development.

“Drawing on the diverse disciplines and perspectives, as well as local knowledge, is the only way to ensure that our solutions to the complex challenges facing our world benefit the most vulnerable rather than a select, fortunate few. Any problem worth fighting for needs an army — it’s time to build that army together.”
